MELIA Kick-off Meeting in Seville (Spain), September 3-7, 2006

MELIA Meeting Venue

 

September 4-7/2006 both dates included. Arrival the 3/9, departure the 7/9 or 8/9.  Working hours: 9-11, 11.30-13-30, 14.30-17.30 TOTAL: 7 h/day. Total Kick-Off: 28 hours.

Facilities:

 

The sessions will take place in a room for some 100 persons, with megaphone, projection facilities and INTERNET connection provided by the CSIC Delegation. Each participant should bring with him a laptop computer, if possible with WiFi incorporated. The CSIC Delegation can provide some 10 computers for those persons without computer. PLEASE, INDICATE IN YOUR REPLY IF YOU CAN BRING WITH YOU THE COMPUTER OR NOT

 

Reception in Seville:

 

It is very important to know in advance the time and place (airport, train station) of arrival to Seville Sunday 3/9. Please, inform us of the time and site of your arrival (airport, train station, other) in order to organize the reception and transport to CSIC Delegation in Seville (supposedly near the Hotels)

 

Reception at airport:  1 bus booked on Sunday 3/9 to take people at the arrivals of planes. The same for the departure. (Search company and prices by Mª Luisa)

 

Accommodation:

 

A list of Hotels of the neighbourhood of the Delegation of different prices is provided as an attach. The reservations and booking will be the responsibility of participants. The CSIC will provide support to those participants that do not have home facilities to reserve. There are still a few rooms available at the CSIC Scientist Residence in the same building as the Delegation at a low fare (30 €/day with breakfast). In principle, these rooms will be reserved to people coming from the MPC

 

Catering

 

The organisation will offer free lunch during the days of the meeting. Breakfast and supper will be at the expenses of participants. Coffee and water will be available all along the meeting.

 

VISA

 

The nationals of some countries need VISA. Please, inform us urgently if you need an invitation letter or some other action to be taken, i.e. inform the Spanish embassy of your visit to Spain and the reasons for it.

Sunday 3/9:

Get together Sunday 3/9 at CSIC Delegation. Soft drinks and tapas. From 18-20 h.

 

Monday 4/9:

 

9-10 Welcome address:  Authorities (Spanish Ministry of Environment, Councillor of Environment of Junta de Andalusia), Coordinator and Commission officer. Presentation of the Agenda and work plan for the 4 days.

 

10-11 General lecture on water issues in the Mediterranean. "The  potential of
recent scientific advances to solve or mitigate water problems" by Prof. Ramon Llamas from the University of Madrid, recent “Cannes International Great Prize for Water” of the current edition of the CANNES INTERNATIONAL WATER SYMPOSIUM

Tuesday 5/9:

 

9-13.30 Practical activities: Demonstration and use exercises by the MELIA partners based on the knowledge management platform of MELIA (Juan Miguel Gonzalez Aranda)

14.30- 15.30 Monitoring MELIA: The logical frame and the attempt to define project  performance indicators (C. Bogliotti)

 

15.30-17.15 Presentation and practical exercises of the management and administrative issues of MELIA (Ana Villacampa)

 

17.30-20.00 Visit to the “Centro de Nuevas Tecnologías del Agua”

 

 

 

 

 

Wednesday 6/9

 

9.00-11.00 Review of the Work Packages (WP) development and commitments. Responsibilities of WP leaders and deputy leaders. Coordination among WP. (ALL)

11.30-13.30 The Steering Committee. Risks and conflict management. Agreement on performance indicators. (C. Bogliotti and R. Rodriguez)

 

13.30-14.30 Lunch

 

14.30-16.00 Strategies to approach external stakeholder and citizens. The organisation of Workshops and the Dissemination strategy. (C. Bogliotti,  ALL) 

 

19.30-22.00 Visit to the Exhibition “Ibn Jaldum” at the Seville Alcazar (Gathering at the CSIC Delegation at 19.30, Visit starting at 20.00)
