Envisioning the Future of Water in Europe, SCENES Newsletter No. 5, January 2010

The Newsletter of the SCENES project will be published a few times per year over the project lifetime (2006-2010). It will refer to plans, results, links and other useful information connected to the project. We aspire to reach not only scientist working for SCENES, but a wider audience of river basin managers, policy makers and stakeholders working with water issues at national and international level. The SCENES project 'Water Scenarios for Europe and for Neighbouring States' is a 4-year research project that started in late 2006. The aim is to develop and analyse a set of comprehensive scenarios of Europe’s freshwater futures up to 2025. The project area covers all of “Greater” Europe reaching to the Caucasus and Ural Mountains, and including the Mediterranean rim countries of north Africa and the near East. SCENES is jointly funded by EC 6th Research Framework Programme (Contract number: 036822) and the research programmes of the collaborating organizations. Your colleagues can get a free subscription to this e-mail newsletter too. All they have to do is send us an e-mail at scenes@environment.fi with "Subscribe SCENES Newsletter" in the subject line. You can unsubscribe by sending us a blank e-mail at scenes@environment.fi with "Unsubscribe European Water Management News" in the subject line. You may read earlier issues at the website of the SCENES project: www.environment.fi/syke/scenes Seppo Rekolainen Editor of the SCENES Newsletter
